Hemophilia
Hemophilia is a rare and inherited blood disorder in which the blood does not properly clot. As a result, individuals with Hemophilia have a greater chance of excessive bleeding after an injury. The bleeding can result externally or internally. Pooling in the knees, ankles, and elbows is extremely common.
Hemophilia occurs when a person is born without the protein which causes the blood to clot. This disorder typically occurs only in males. Any individual with this disorder cannot bleed to death. In fact, many cases go undiagnosed every year.
