Cerebral Palsy (CP)
There are four types of CP:
Spastic - too much muscle tone or tightness; stiff movements in the arms, legs, and/or back
Occurs in 50-75% of all cases
Athetoid - slow, uncontrolled body movements; low muscle tone
Occurs in 10-20% of all cases
Ataxic - poor coordination, balance, and depth perception
Occurs in 5-10% of all cases
Mixed - combination of all symptoms; high and low muscle tone; stiffness and involuntary movements
There are three different quadrants that can be affected by CP. They are as follows:

- Diplegia - only legs are affected
- Hemiplegia - one half of the body if affected
- Quadriplegia - all four extremities are affected; sometimes the facial and torso muscles are affected
